What happened to loyalty?

The new season of the Barclays Premier league is fast approaching and it promises to be one of the most exciting seasons yet. 3 of the top 4 teams have new managers although Jose isn’t exactly new, he will have his work cut out for him. That’s not what I want to talk about though. This season’s transfer window has been full of rumours and speculation. The one which I have payed close attention to is that of Luis Suarez for obvious reasons. There have been so many stories its hard to know what to believe. It is said that Suarez wants to leave Liverpool for Arsenal, I fail to see why.

The reason is said to be he wants to play European football. That is understandable, but why not move to a club that makes it into the knock out stages unlike Arsenal who hardly ever get past the group stages. I do not understand why he would want to move from Liverpool. He has been one of the best players over the past season and you have to admit it has something to do with the club and players around him. If he is unhappy with the way the press is treating him, well that’s his own fault and moving to another English club is not going to solve that. Liverpool have stood by him through all of his bad times.

If he wants to leave I say let him go, he will not receive the same treatment at Arsenal as he did at Liverpool. Just look at Fernando Torres, arguably one of the best if not the best striker in the league at the time. Moved to Chelsea and scored 2 goals in his first season. People forget that it is not only the individual but the team around him that also contribute to his talent. Take a look at Messi, arguably the best player ever. However he isn’t as good for Argentina as he is for Barcelona. Why? Because at Barcelona he is surrounded by the best team in the world.

If you can’t see that Liverpool is a team on the rise then you’re blind, unbeaten in all of their pre season games as well as clean sheets in all 3 games. They are a team building for the future and that future is coming sooner rather than later. The amount of talent in that side is staggering, young players such as Couthino, Aspas, Alberto, Ibe and of course Sterling. It would hard to say that Liverpool are a weak team. Yes their results this past season weren’t the best but as I said they are building and you have to admit that the way they are playing is something to behold.

Liverpool are on their way back to the top end of English football and if Suarez decides he wants to leave it will be a big blow to those aspirations but an even bigger blow to his aspirations of being one of the best players in the world. Liverpool will still make the climb with or without him.
